Five nestlings hatched during April 27-May 2. Right now is a great time to see these hatchlings being cared for by Mon and Dad. They’re beatiful.
In December 2005 in southern Sudan, a boy drinks water from the Akuem River, near the village of Malual Kon in Bahr el Ghazal State. Only about one-third of the population has access to safe drinking water, and the threat of water-borne disease has increased as towns swell due to the return of displaced people and refugees following decades of civil war.

so I did my scientific illustration final on whale evolution. This painting’s 3 feet long!
I did my best to illustrate every species as accurately as possible to the best of my ability. The sizes are vaguely correct but if they were actually to scale, the smaller species would be even smaller and the larger species would be even larger (basilosaurus is slightly bigger than a blue whale… and pakicetus is the size of a medium sized dog)
YEAH evolution!

Liberty is the air we breathe, and we live in a part of the world where, imperfect as the supply is, it is, nevertheless, freely available, at least to those of us who aren’t black youngsters wearing hoodies in Miami, and broadly breathable, unless, of course, we’re women in red states trying to make free choices about our own bodies. Imperfectly free, imperfectly breathable, but when it is breathable and free we don’t need to make a song and dance about it. We take it for granted and get on with our day. And at night, as we fall asleep, we assume we will be free tomorrow, because we were free today.
Iraq Veterans Against the War calls on fellow service members, veterans, Chicagoans, and everyone who believes in justice, dignity, and respect for all peoples to join us in the streets on May 20th. On this day, we will hold a nonviolent march to the site of the NATO summit where we will ceremoniously return our military service medals. We will demand that NATO immediately end the occupation of Afghanistan and relating economic and social injustices, bring U.S. war dollars home to fund our communities, and acknowledge the rights and humanity of all who are affected by these wars. We wish to begin a process of justice and reconciliation with the people of Afghanistan and other affected nations, fellow service members, veterans, and the American people.
Hitchhiking Director John Waters Picked Up In Ohio By Indie Rock Band
It’s worth noting that Waters is no stranger to hitchhiking—in an interview last year, he said, “I do still hitchhike - it’s a great way to meet people, and to have sex.
Bayer’s neonicotinoid pesticides, which now coat upwards of 90 percent of US corn seeds and seeds of increasing portions of other major crops like soy, have emerged as a likely trigger for colony collapse disorder.
I’d like to know what deck this is from. I’ve never seen it before.

Wasteland 2
A Kickstarter funded RPG due out in 2013 (Fuck the Mayans) in the style of the original Fallout 1 & 2. I’m a supporter and looking forward to playing it.
